ICS Fellows
ICS has established two national fellowships, Arete and Alcuin, to engage experienced school Heads and academic leaders to provide support for the advancement of classical Christian education.
The Arete Fellows are individuals who bring diverse gifts and experience as Heads at established classical Christian schools. These leaders come together for fellowship and collaboration to provide resources, mentoring and training to the next generation of school leaders.
The most articulated value in Greek culture is arête. Translated as “virtue,” the word actually means something closer to “being the best you can be,” or “reaching your highest human potential.” In the Homeric poems, arête is frequently associated with bravery, but more often, with excellence. The man or woman of arête is a person of the highest order of excellence; they use all their faculties: strength, bravery, wit, to achieve real, lasting results.
